Essential Job Functions

The Chicago office is seeking data and analytics professional to support the Firmwide (“FW”) Legal Recruiting and Development (“LRD”) department.  The candidate will serve as a key resource focused on data management, extraction and reporting, as well as creating analytical insights in support of LRD’s data and analytics strategies.

The Specialist role will be expected to become an expert in the multiple data sources across all LRD talent-related global functions (legal recruiting, legal education and development, as well as attorney engagement initiatives that include, but are not limited to: alumni engagement, CareerLink program, Concierge program).  In addition to optimizing extract, transform, load (“ETL”) database functions, the Specialist role will be responsible for producing sophisticated data metrics and statistics reporting, as well as supporting more advanced data visualizations and analytics for purposes of FW and LRD leadership consumption.

The ideal candidate will also exhibit superior communication skills and display an ability and interest in building relationships with colleagues across various FW and LRD functional areas and levels.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

• Develop and maintain efficient, streamlined and where possible, automated, ETL database functions across multiple LRD data sources
• Partner with various data analysts across LRD functions and areas of expertise to maintain superior data entry and collection processes
• Create and maintain reporting metrics and data visualizations across LRD functions for regular and iterative consumption by LRD management and FW leadership
• Create digestible and meaningful presentation materials that effectively utilize data metrics and visualizations to tell a story and generate meaningful business insights
• Assist FW Senior Talent Analytics Manager in creating advanced data visualizations and analytics for purposes of FW and LRD leadership consumption
• Collaborate with FW Senior Talent Analytics Manager to push forward long-term LRD data and analytics strategies and goals
• Partner with other members of the LRD Resources team (marketing and communications, project management, financial and event professionals) to support overall LRD business needs and goals
• Build and foster relationships with data and analytics colleagues across other FW departments (including, but not limited to: Technology, Finance, Human Resources)

• Effectively communicate project plans and statuses to management on a regular basis, and as directed or requested
• Ad hoc tasks related to LRD operations as needed and assigned by management

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree is required (concentration in computer science, engineering, mathematics, business analytics, or another related field is preferred)
• 6-8 years of data and analytics experience in a similar setting is required (professional services firm strongly preferred)
• This role requires a high level of both collaborative and autonomous work; the ideal candidate will have interest and strong abilities in both styles
• Excellent organizational skills are required in order to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a very strong attention to detail and professional demeanor
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and offices, is essential to achieving results in this role

Technologies/Software:

• Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OneNote) is required, with a particularly advanced expertise in Excel; SharePoint skills are preferred
• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server is required
• Expertise in Tableau is required

Interest in learning new software and technologies, and a proven track record in easily adapting to them, is required
