Essential Job Functions

As a member of the Legal Recruiting and Development Department, the Attorney Engagement Events Specialist will support the needs, projects and objectives of the Attorney Engagement Department.

The Specialist will be highly organized, possess excellent proofreading, oral and written communication skills, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, have a can-do attitude, and be a team player. The ability to perform analytical work with a high level of attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and quality are required.  The preferred candidate will be able to maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally with attorneys and staff at all levels while maintaining a client service orientation, and use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information.  Advance familiarity with standard office technology applications such as Microsoft Office Suite is required, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.  A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four (4) years of Professional Development or related experience in a professional services environment are preferred.  Availability for overtime is required.
 

Essential Functions (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Coordinate events and attorney development programs 
  • Provide support with new associate and lateral attorney integration
  • Coordinate attorney office transfers to Chicago, including welcome announcements, office tours, and integration
  • Run and analyze attorney utilization reports and meet regularly with key stakeholders to review
  • Track attorney mentoring program updates and assist with mentor assignment process
  • Coordinate Litigation and Corporate department Open Forums
  • Assist with coordination of Associates’ Committee meetings and related projects and initiatives
  • Support Chicago affinity group events
  • Support the Attorney Recruiting Team during the summer program and fall recruiting as needed
  • Manage calendars for Attorney Engagement
  • Maintain attorney engagement-related initiatives on internal website
  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management

Qualifications & Requirements

Core Technologies include Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in similar setting, law firm or professional services strongly preferred
  • High level of collaboration and the ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills including excellent proofing and communication (oral and written) abilities
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and offices to achieve results. 
  • Ability to work evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines

Technologies/Software

Technical experience should include the Microsoft Office Suite; Proficiency in Excel required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
