Essential Job Functions

The Attorney Compensation Analysis Manager will work within a team and is responsible for the analysis and recordkeeping of the attorney compensation arrangements. This position will work with the Financial Analysis, Payroll, and Financial Accounting, Controls, & Budget Department within the Finance team, and will liaise with members of the Attorney Engagement (AE) team and Office of the Chair.
 

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Assist in the forecast of yearly year-end bonus estimates for the Firm management and for the Reporting and Budget group, periodically during the year
  • Collaborate with the Reporting and Budget team in annual budget process as it relates to attorney compensation
  • Support the financial aspects of the annual performance review and bonus process as an agent for the Finance Department
  • Act as a conduit for compensation information for key personnel in the Finance, Human Resources and Attorney Engagement functions.
  • Aid in Associate compensation variance analysis as needed
  • Validate and record the compensation arrangements as stated in engagement letter
  • Ensure accuracy of current and future expected comp information maintained by AE and Office of the Chair
  • Research and respond to bonus calculation and compensation questions
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the compensation tool and present recommendations to management
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting as directed by key Partners
  • Conduct audit/analysis quarterly for quality control purposes
  • Facilitate monthly compensation audits

Qualifications & Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in accounting and/or finance, showing progressive growth in responsibilities. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or comparable experience) is required.  MBA or CPA status, as well as previous experience in a law/professional services firm is desirable, but not required. 
  • Strong analytical accounting, research, and conceptual thinking skills are required. The ability to work with intricate data, while maintaining an awareness of the overall objective and how all the relevant data points fit together is critical.
  • Individuals are expected to exhibit outstanding customer service skills and a commitment to excellence and collaboration.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to clearly and concisely summarize observations, conclusions, and recommendations are necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required and the individual must be proactive and results oriented.
  • Attention to detail and the eagerness to learn and to progress within a dynamic and growing environment are imperative.
  • The individual should be flexible in order to handle time sensitive requests and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines, including ability to work overtime as required
  • The successful candidate will be capable of working with all levels of Firm personnel, both as part of a team and independently.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills. Experience in the use of business intelligence tools and knowledge of SQL a plus.  
  • General accounting software and database software, with an existing understanding of relational database concepts

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
