Essential Job Functions

POSITION OVERVIEW

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a Legal Education & Development Specialist as a member of the Legal Recruiting and Development Department to support the Salt Lake City office. The Legal Education & Development Specialist will provide support to legal education, engagement, & development efforts for the Salt Lake City office. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Provide administrative support for events and development programs, which may require lunch hour and evening overtime
  • Support and coordinate the Utah State Bar New Lawyer Training Program:
    • partner junior and senior attorneys with respect to mentoring
    • leverage Utah MCLE guidelines to support mandated CLE mentoring requirements
    • work with the Firmwide CLE Compliance team with respect to CLE tracking, accreditation measures, and process
  • Provide support with lateral attorney integration, including event assistance, coordination of integration efforts, and local lateral onboarding and orientation
  • Work with the Firmwide Associate Review team to coordinate localized annual review processes and related requirements
  • Coordinate attorney office transfers to Salt Lake City, including welcome announcements, office tours, and integration
  • Analyze, organize, and support local engagement needs for the local Salt Lake City office
  • Assist with coordination of Associates’ Committee meetings and related projects and initiatives
  • Support all Salt Lake City diverse affinity group events
  • Support the Women’s Leadership Initiative
  • Support local and Firmwide diversity events, including liaising with broader Salt Lake City Engagement team on diversity efforts and strategy
  • Support the Salt Lake City Legal Recruiting team during the summer program and fall recruiting
  • General administration duties related to the support of engagement related programming:
    • Update department documents on a quarterly basis
    • Process expenses reports and check requests
    • Miscellaneous administrative duties such as filing, creating labels, nametags, managing swag, scanning, and copying
    • Managing calendars for Attorney Engagement
    • Maintain attorney engagement-related initiatives on internal website

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in similar setting, law firm, or professional services strongly preferred
  • High level of collaboration and the ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills including excellent proofing and communication (oral and written) abilities
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and offices to achieve results
  • Ability to work overtime and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines; position schedule will follow the Salt Lake City Mountain Time office hours
  • Regular travel to the Salt Lake City office is required

Technologies/Software

  • Technical experience should include the Microsoft Office Suite; Proficiency in Excel required.
