Essential Job Functions

As the Texas Business Development Specialist, you will liaise closely with the lawyers in the Texas offices and the Firmwide Energy & Infrastructure team, in collaboration with the Texas Business Development team to facilitate various projects and strategic initiatives including business pitches and client presentations. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships among lawyers and staff to achieve results. Meticulous writing and proofing skills and experience in the legal, energy, professional services and/or financial services sectors are highly desirable. Exceptional organizational and project management skills will be important.

You will also communicate and collaborate daily with the more than 135 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader BD, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international marketing team provides seamless service to our attorneys, with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. We are looking for a self-starter, with good judgement and an interest in a professional services career. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Produce bespoke pitch materials, RFPs and client presentations
  • Engage in thoughtful, comprehensive research of the Firm’s energy and infrastructure transactions across a wide breadth of sectors, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources
  • Maintain content on practice areas, industries and attorneys
  • Engage in thoughtful, comprehensive research of the Firm’s M&A transactions across a wide breadth of industries, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources
  • Maintain content on practice areas, industries and attorneys
  • Contribute and assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of a Firmwide experience database

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct company and market research
  • Provide general Business Development support

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A four-year degree is required
  • 2+ years of professional experience and a background in energy, private equity and/or financial services are preferred
  • Law firm, corporate finance, research analyst and investment banking experience are a plus

Technologies/Software

  • A solid command of a number of different software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including extensive experience in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with various market intelligence and research platforms, including CapIQ, ThomsonOne, Bloomberg, Mergermarket, The Deal Pipeline and Pitchbook is preferred
  • Experience with InterAction or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role requires interaction with attorneys and administrative personnel on a regular basis, as well as communicating deal information to various groups within the Business Development Department. The successful candidate will possess outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
