Essential Job Functions


We are seeking an energetic, organized Assistant to join the Texas Business Development (BD) department in Dallas. You will report to the Texas BD Associate Director and will work closely with the BD team members in Dallas, Houston and Austin.

You will handle a variety of functions, including events, pitches and proposals, attorney bio updates, contact relationship management, branding, business/relationship intelligence and internal communications.

You will also communicate and collaborate daily with the more than 135 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader BD, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international marketing team provides seamless service to our attorneys, with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. We are looking for a self-starter, with good judgement and an interest in a professional services career.


  • Assist in the production of marketing collateral and pitch materials, responses to RFPs and client presentations, including proofreading, formatting (must have exceptional PowerPoint skills), editing, printing, binding and delivery.
  • Assist with event planning and execution of seminars and receptions, industry conference and charitable sponsorships, speaking engagements, client entertainment and other events related to the Texas offices.
  • Coordinate with attorneys on biography updates and update attorney pitch and website bios accordingly.
  • Work with external vendors on the ordering of promotional items and gifts. Submit purchasing requests through P+ software and coordinate with Purchasing team on orders.
  • Manage information in the Firm’s contact relationship management (CRM) system, including the review and creation of mailing lists used for direct mail campaigns.
  • Conduct research and prepare intelligence reports on clients, potential clients, competitors and target industries.
  • Help with survey responses and award submissions as needed.


  • Provide general assistance to the BD Associate Director relating to the initiatives of the Texas offices and BD department.
  • Provide administrative support, including expense reports, phone support, filing, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the Firm are a must -- even at a junior level.
  • Ability to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions.
  • True achiever with a drive to succeed. Kirkland demands quality work from every employee (often in high-pressure and deadline-driven scenarios) so you need to be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively. A history of taking initiative is essential to success in this position.
  • Meticulous data entry, writing and proofing skills, and you need to possess a general facility for learning new software.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Familiarity with the pitch process, a basic understanding of Kirkland’s legal disciplines (e.g., transactional, litigation, IP, restructuring) and/or private equity sector experience would be helpful.

  • MS Office software proficiency, with expertise in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are required.
  • CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, ContentPilot, etc.) experience are preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Chrome River, Adobe Photoshop and other programs is a plus.


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
