Essential Job Functions

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Coordinator in the Practice Development area of the Business Development Department, you will be responsible for a variety of marketing and development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, marketing collateral maintenance, matters database maintenance, CRM maintenance, research, and communications. You should be comfortable working in a team environment, with a keen eye for organization and detail. The ideal candidate will need to be able to think critically, analyze data effectively and convey complex information clearly.

This position reports directly to the Restructuring and Real Estate Business Development Associate Director with oversight from the Business Development Director in Chicago.

You will also communicate and collaborate daily with more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. In short, we are looking for a self-starter, with good judgement and an interest in a professional services career.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct company and market research
  • Produce and maintain pitch materials, RFPs and client presentations
  • Maintain content on practice areas, industries and attorneys
  • Contribute to and assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of a Firmwide experience database
  • Assist in planning and executing client-facing events, industry conferences, charitable sponsorships, speaking engagements, client entertainment and other event activities
  • Interpret, analyze and export data in relation to requests from multiple stakeholders and departments

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Provide general Business Development and Practice support
  • Provide administrative assistance, as needed
  • Any other functions/duties as they arise as assigned by management

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A four-year degree is required.
  • 2+ years of professional experience and a background in legal business development is preferred.
  • Outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
  • Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the Firm are a must.
  • Strong project management skills and exceptional business acumen.

Technologies/Software

  • A solid command of a number of different software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including extensive experience in PowerPoint.
  • Experience with InterAction or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus.
