Essential Job Functions


The Chicago office is seeking a talent-focused Marketing and Communications Specialist. As a part of the Firmwide Legal Recruiting and Development Department (“LRD”), the candidate will support the overall departmental strategy through marketing and communications initiatives. This role will be responsible for supporting the development of visual and written content for print pieces, presentations, internal websites, newsletters and internal emails, and ensures consistent messaging, branding and tone.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to working with local LRD leads on marketing materials and communications requests, ad hoc projects to support various teams and Firm functions, assisting with social media efforts, and ongoing writing, proofing and editing. Additionally, this role will be key in helping create an annual marketing and communications calendar for our global Concierge Program, assisting with developing monthly content themes and generating ongoing content ideas for the program. This role must have good writing skills and proof editing skills. This position will be a brand ambassador and help to streamline and assist with creating collateral, as well as help market across all of the Legal Recruiting & Development functions (Recruiting, Legal Education & Development, Attorney Engagement, Concierge, Global Alumni Engagement & CareerLink programs) through various channels including web content, social media, video and printed materials.

This is a full-time, temporary contract work opportunity. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Well-versed in the long term goals of the Legal Recruiting & Development team and Firm as a whole, and have the ability to develop marketing and communications strategies to reach goals
  • Focus on Concierge internal communications content and strategy
  • Work with the LRD Associate Director with project management of marketing and communications initiatives
  • Draft content for presentations, ads, blurbs and other marketing materials, understanding the tone and objectives of each unique project
  • Provide proofing and editing support
  • Ensure consistency of Firm branding
  • Support the development of LRD collateral and creative vision
  • Assist with communications strategy planning
  • Assist with an LRD-focused social media calendar, strategy and content
  • Work across LRD channels with other key stakeholders to help support projects, develop materials and support their creative goals
  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, other departments across the Firm and vendors
  • Stay current on marketing and communications trends and tools
  • Collaborate with our Business Development team on content development and cross-channel promotions
  • Support ongoing creative LRD marketing content and ideas

Qualifications & Requirements


Education, Work Experience, Skills

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience working in a large corporation or professional services experience is a must.

Core competencies include the need to think strategically, balance multiple projects at once, prioritize and be a self-starter who can navigate a large, matrixed organization. The person in this role must be a strategic thinker, organized, able to multi-task, and operate well under time constraints. Excellent grammar, written and oral communication skills are required as are the abilities to cultivate collaborative relationships with other Firm departments and co-workers. Experience with creative content writing and creation is required. Experience with social media is a plus. Any graphic design experience is not required, but a benefit.

We are seeking a candidate with at least 7 years of marketing experience in a matrixed organization.


  • Technical experience should include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HTML at minimum, with a proven track record of easily adopting new software and technologies. 
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop is a plus
  • Experience with e-marketing platforms or social media tool is a plus.
