Essential Job Functions


We are looking for an assistant to support the marketing and business development efforts of the Firm’s Litigation Practice as part of the Business Development team in our New York office. 

The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, strong work ethic, a general understanding of the Firm’s core litigation practices, and is eager to pursue a career in legal marketing. 

The assistant will support a variety of functions, including pitches and proposals, events, speaking engagements, conferences, contact relationship management, marketing collateral maintenance, litigation tracking and reporting, survey responses and award submissions, business intelligence and communications.

You will report directly to the Litigation Associate Director in New York with additional oversight and direction from the Associate Director, Manager and Coordinator for Litigation Business Development based in our Chicago office.

The assistant will also communicate and collaborate daily with more than 125 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm.

  • Assist in the production of marketing collateral and pitch materials, responses to RFPs and client presentations, including proofreading, formatting (must have strong PowerPoint skills) and editing.
  • Maintain system for tracking client pitches and practice initiatives.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining practice overviews, PowerPoint templates, matter descriptions, accolade summaries and attorney biographies.
  • Help with litigation monitoring and reporting.
  • Assist with event planning and execution of seminars and receptions, industry conferences and charitable sponsorships, speaking engagements, client entertainment and other events related to the promotion of the Litigation group.
  • Update data in the Firm’s contact relationship management (CRM) system, including the review and creation of mailing lists.
  • Assist with basic research and data collection for various projects.
  • Help with survey responses and award submissions, as needed.
  • Help maintain and update content in our litigation experience database.
  • The candidate may also be called upon to assist with various other initiatives that intersect with other functional areas within the business development context.


  • Provide administrative assistance, including budgeting and expense reporting, as needed, to the Litigation BD team.
  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management.

  • You will be required to handle ambiguity, influence others and find ways to move initiatives forward to meet critical deadlines and produce results
  • Bachelor’s degree is required 
  • One to two years’ experience in the law firm environment is preferred
  • Familiarity with the pitch process and a basic understanding of litigation would be helpful


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and iManage
  • CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, etc.)
