Essential Job Functions


Kirkland & Ellis is seeking an Alumni Engagement Assistant. As part of the Firmwide Legal Recruiting and Development Department (“LRD”), this role will be responsible for assisting and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Firm’s world class and industry leading Alumni Engagement Program.

Under the strategic direction of the Senior Alumni Engagement Manager, this role includes supporting: events, communications, marketing, alumni website/platform (AlumniLink), reporting & metrics, and adhoc requests.  The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of organizational skills, have attention to detail, have a “can do” attitude, will work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders.

The Alumni Engagement Assistant will embrace and promote Kirkland’s dedication to remaining “Colleagues for Life” with attorneys at Kirkland, present and past, recognizing that the Kirkland Alumni Program is what connects our esteemed alumni and attorneys through the website, engaging networking events, and life-long career support.  This role will work collaboratively and seamlessly with resources across the LRD team and other departments in areas such as Events Planning, Marketing & Communications, Human Resources, IT, and Business Development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Assist in the maintenance of alumni data within Kirkland’s AlumniLink database.  Responsibilities include:
    • Update contact information for new alumni
    • Update existing information in alumni profiles
    • Verify correct feed of alumni information from HR PeopleSoft for new profile creation
    • Run standard reports of alumni lists from the website; enhance for delivery in “client ready” format
    • Conduct ongoing research of “lost alumni” or missing alumni information via internet and other tools
    • Update missing or out of date info on alumni
  • Interact with vendors in support of order processing and purchasing of alumni branded materials and event supplies, catering, photography, etc.
  • Provide support for alumni events and alumni CLE training programs: 
    • Help track event RSVPs and running RSVP reports as needed
    • Assist with event nametags and printing
    • Assist with alumni communications via AlumniLink website
  • Provide support for alumni dining program
  • Help manage the alumni inbox and communicate with Firm alumni, and other internal departments.
  • Help with alumni team projects, processes, events and other initiatives on an on-going basis.
  • Support the team with administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to, scheduling, monitoring phones, mailing, processing invoices, and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements


Education, Work Experience, Skills

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent proofing and communication (oral and written) skills; the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail; a professional demeanor and the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and demands.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and offices to achieve results. Candidate will need to be flexible and may need to work overtime dependent on projects at the given time...

A Bachelor’s degree is required in addition to 2+ years of relevant experience.  Law firm experience is a plus. 


  • Technical experience should include MS Word, Power Point, and proficiency in Excel. Candidate should have familiarity with LinkedIn and ideally experience with Alumni Engagement Platforms/Tools. 
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, website maintenance/content administration, database maintenance, or experience with SharePoint is a plus.
  • Experience with e-marketing, social medial, or data/analytics tools or platforms is a plus.
