Essential Job Functions


The Partner Accounting Analyst is an integral member of Kirkland & Ellis’ Finance team. This individual will be required to develop and exhibit a detailed understanding of the Firm’s Partner Accounting and Treasury Management activities and develop a thorough understanding of the Firm’s Partnership accounting. This individual will be expected to identify, prepare, and develop alternatives to increase efficiency, enhance cost savings, and improve data integrity across the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Drive exemplary service to partners in delivering accurate and timely information regarding their capital, loans, distribution and cash flows; anticipate and communicate timely any potential issues regarding partner’s participation and capital.
  • Ensure partner accounting services are provided accurately and efficiently; regularly review and develop internal processes and resources to promote the responsive delivery of services.
  • Prepare Partner cash flow forecasts, annual distribution memos, and loan documentation.
  • Reconcile partner capital accounts and review of interest payments on capital loans.
  • Allocate distributions of profit across the partnership for current year and SFA earnings, accurately calculating partnership share levels and true-up adjustments for joiners, leavers, special arrangements, etc.
  • Ensure partnership financial records are meticulously maintained, controlled, and safeguarded; review partner offer letters and transition memos; ensure proper execution of agreements.
  • Cross-train and participate in other treasury and cash management related tasks/projects as needed

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required
  • Previous experience with partner accounting in a law firm or the professional services industry is desired
  • This position requires an individual with strong accounting, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills.  The ability to work with intricate data, while maintaining an awareness of the overall objective and how all the relevant data points fit together is critical
  • Strong customer service skills, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are critical
  • The successful candidate must be capable of working with all levels of Firm personnel, both as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to take ownership of his/her assigned responsibilities with limited supervision are also critical success factors for this role


  • A working knowledge of MS Office suite with advanced analytical and Excel skills are required.


  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
