Essential Job Functions

As a member of the firm wide Legal Recruiting and Development Department (“LRD”), the Legal Recruiting Manager for the Bay Area offices will provide strategic direction and implementation for legal recruiting at the local office level, while executing firm wide initiatives and strategy. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

Legal Recruiting

  • Manage the lateral attorney recruiting process, including working with partners strategically to determine staffing needs and devise recruiting plans to acquire top talent.  Proactively leverage existing relationships in the market, attorney referrals and external legal recruiting agencies to build candidate pipelines and sustain volume hiring across various practice areas.
  • Partner with Director of LRD to develop and deliver the Bay Area’s law student recruiting strategy, managing execution of on-campus interviews, callbacks, offer dinners, 1L hiring, 1L recruiting events and campus outreach activities.
  • With support from Director of LRD, lead design and implementation of the Kirkland Summer Associate Program, including planning and attending events, managing work assignments and the review process.
  • Produce and distribute timely reports to keep hiring partners informed on progress against hiring targets, pipeline status, D&I makeup and other critical metrics.
  • Prepare offer letter and welcome notices, including firm announcements for new hires.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation activities for summer associates, new (fall) associates and lateral hires.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • 8+ years of recruiting experience (combination of lateral and campus recruiting) and management experience.  Strong preference for law firm recruiting experience.
  • Proven track record of managing relationships with senior partners.
  • Strong communication skills, project management and change management experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical thinker able to devise insightful reports and use data to support proposed action plans. 



Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of various database systems including viDesktop, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
