Essential Job Functions


The Accounts Payable Manager will manage all facets of the Firm’s Accounts Payable function including:  new vendor documentation, administration of invoice and expense approval process within Chrome River, ACH/check run process and monthly reconciliation and reporting.

The Accounts Payable Manager will manage a team of Accounts Payable staff with the primary objectives of performing processes accurately, in compliance with all Firm policies and within required deadlines.

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all disbursements, while optimizing the Firm’s cash flow specific to payment processing.
  • Review and evaluate staff’s work product for quality and compliance.  Provide guidance for exceptions or issues, which may arise.
  • Manage and administer Invoice/Expense approval system.
  • Identify process and related technology improvement ideas, as well as, assist with implementation of ideas.
  • Supervise, coach, and train the Accounts Payable team on procedures, controls, and issue resolution.  Re-allocate resources as needed to meet demands.
  • Manage escalated issues and multiple high visibility priorities.
  • Monitor performance metrics of department to provide insight to development needs or resource rebalancing.
  • Effectively communicate with end-users to understand requirements and provide responsive solutions.
  • Maintain current documentation for Accounts Payable procedures in practice and ensure understanding and adherence for consistent results.


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Accounts Payable, with 10 + years of supervisory experience in all aspects of Accounts Payable processes. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar area of study is required.  A comprehensive understanding of the law firm or professional services industry is beneficial.  This candidate will have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities, and perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision is imperative; and the ability to lead and work effectively on a team and with other functional areas and customers throughout the organization is required.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills; must be proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to clearly and concisely summarize observations, conclusions, and recommendations.


  • Experience with Invoice/Expense workflow software is required; familiarity with Chrome River is desirable. 
  • MS Office with emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Experience with Elite 3E or other enterprise general ledger systems is desirable.
