Essential Job Functions

The Downtown Los Angeles office is seeking a Litigation Paralegal with strong IP litigation experience; particularly large, complex or multi-party actions.  The Paralegal will work with all of the attorneys on the matter from the beginning through trial or arbitration, managing the flow of information and ensuring adherence to best practices. 

The Paralegal will be responsible for managing the files (“case record”) working in all phases of the discovery process, from collection of documents from the client to the production of documents to other parties. 


Litigation Case Management

  • Obtain information and materials from IP vendors and government agencies, such as the US Patent & Trademark Office
  • Manages document production processes - hard copy, electronic, etc.
  • Substantive Research
  • Coordinate, preparation and filing of briefs and legal documents
  • Interact with outside entities (clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, other law firms, opposing parties, court personnel, etc.)
  • Manage litigation support systems
  • Cite Checking
  • Manage preparation for witnesses and depositions
  • Manage trial preparation and trial support
  • Manage resources, including support staff

Qualifications & Requirements

This position requires complex Intellectual Property litigation experience, including managing large discovery, creating and managing databases and imaging systems, supervising teams, preparing for trials in Federal court, and managing trial support.  Must have a high-level experience with a range of litigation support applications, and should have experience managing out-of-town trial offices for cases that have gone to verdict.  The candidate will possess 5+ years of IP Litigation Paralegal experience in a lead role, and meet the California Business & Professional Code 6450 requirements, a bachelor’s degree preferred.  Additional qualifications include excellent analytical and organizational abilities, solid communication and management skills, strong computer abilities, creativity and initiative. Relativity experience a plus. Flexibility for travel and overtime required.
