Essential Job Functions

This position is responsible for training new team members on the conflicts search and analysis process and is expected to remain aware of the needs of the Firm and the Risk Management Department.  The Conflicts Training Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of the training program as it relates to the conflicts search and analysis process for business intake, new/lateral hire legal staff, and restructuring/debtor processes. The focus of the position will be delivering comprehensive, detailed, and consistent new team member training programs.  The goal of the position is to ensure high quality of work product and exceptional customer service through the training and mentoring of new team members.  This individual will work closely with new members of the Conflicts Department, including management, to customize and adapt the training and development of the new team members to meet the needs of the Firm and the individual.  This position reports to the Conflicts Manager and is subject to all the same needs that may arise in aiding the Firm’s Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management, and the business intake and conflicts area in general.


  • Train, supervise and evaluate new members of the team dedicated to conflicts analysis (pre-engagement, restructuring, and new hire);
  • Collaborate with Business Intake & Conflicts leadership to design and develop a training program;
  • Deliver training plans for new team members;
  • Create and maintain training documentation as it relates to the searching and analysis processes;
  • Review departmental training processes and procedures to identify training gaps and trends. Work with management to deliver additional training and support required to mitigate risk, reduce error rates and inconsistencies;
  • Hold on-going training sessions and meet regularly with members of the team;
  • Oversee the Conflicts quality assurance review and new team member work audits;
  • Supervise daily workflow of new team members to ensure that conflicts search and analysis needs are met for the department and Firm (business intake, restructuring, new hires).  Establish conflicts analysis protocols and monitor work product of new team members for consistency and accuracy of searching and analysis;
  • Assist in coordinating the assignment and monitoring the progress of conflicts searching in the department (business intake, restructuring, new hires) for new team members;
  • Assist attorneys and staff in the identification, clearance and resolution of conflicts of interest; consult with attorneys, Office of the General Counsel and Risk Management team, as necessary, to receive guidance on the identification, clearance and resolution of conflicts of interest and business related issues discovered during the search and analysis process;
  • Oversee the organization and collaboration of large analysis projects; 
  • Constantly review, assess, recommend, and implement process, procedure, and technology improvements to ensure optimum customer service and efficiency;
  • In conjunction with the other Conflicts Supervisors and Conflicts Manager, identify staffing needs for the dedicated conflicts analysis team, including new positions, new hires, and terminations;
  • Be available for urgent and confidential situations, including evenings and weekends. Be available 24/7 via mobile device;
  • Work together with department management to deliver quarterly, annual, and ad hoc, performance, management, statistical, and other reports;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess five to seven years of related experience, including conflicts searching or similar process management/risk management experience required.  Must have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines and working in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision. Four year college degree required. Advanced degree, J.D. or M.B.A. preferred. Candidate must have strong organizational skills; must be multitasked with exceptional writing and oral communication skills; strict attention to detail; and possess strong interpersonal skills. Studies in areas directly applicable to the duties described above (e.g. business administration, project management, management, paralegal/legal assistant, finance) desirable but not required depending upon other professional and educational experience. Previous supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership abilities is a plus.
