Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a coordinator to support the efforts of the Firm’s Marketing/Business Development (BD) function for the transactional practices (M&A/Private Equity, Debt Finance and Capital Markets, among others).

You will be responsible for the research, collection, and maintenance of historical and current matter information on M&A/private equity transactions for the Firm’s corporate matter inventory database. Other responsibilities include supporting the day-to day functions of the business development team including creating/writing, maintaining and refining marketing materials, including pitches, RFPs and substantive presentations; conducting market research, practice area descriptions and attorney biography maintenance, CRM data entry/maintenance, industry/client trend tracking, and general business development support.

Our ideal candidate will be comfortable in an internal database environment. You will understand the elements of an M&A transaction and be able to distinguish among various types of transactions as well as have the ability to distill complex deal information into a succinct, digestible format. 

This position reports directly to the Director of Transactional Business Development in Chicago.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Researching and collecting data on historical and current matters for transactional practices (M&A/private equity, Debt Finance, Capital Markets)
  • Contributing and assisting in the development and ongoing maintenance of a Firmwide corporate practice database

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Creating and maintaining marketing materials for new business pitches and client presentations
  • Maintaining attorney biographies
  • Company and market research
  • General Business Development support

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A four-year degree is required.
  • 2+ years of professional experience and a background in M&A/private equity are preferred.
  • An understanding of complex M&A and finance transactions is required.
  • Law firm, corporate finance, research analyst and investment banking experience are a plus.

Technologies/Software

  • A solid command of a number of different software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including the Microsoft Office Suite (proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel are required)
  • Must have experience with various market intelligence platforms, including BoardEx, Rel Sci, Capital IQ, ThomsonOne, Preqin, Manzama, The Deal Pipeline, Pitchbook and Corporate Affiliations.
  • Experience with InterAction or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus.
