Essential Job Functions

The PeopleSoft Developer II position is responsible for developing, configuring, implementing and maintaining HR and payroll systems; troubleshooting and resolving production support issues quickly and summarizing and reporting the results; producing appropriate documentation and notifications for changes to production systems or fixes to production problems; responsible for creating unit and system testing scenarios and scripts, performing unit testing, assisting business teams in system and UAT testing, and documenting testing results; creating and running statistical reports as well as ad hoc requests for clients; other responsibilities as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.) Essential functions are fundamental duties that are necessary to the position. To identify essential functions, focus on time spent, frequency, importance of function, consequences of failure to perform and availability of others to perform.

  • Ability to analyze, configure, design, develop, test and implement intermediate-level solutions to meet business needs and objectives.
  • Works with team members and other technical teams to understand and resolve issues.
  • Discusses proposed solutions and options with business areas. Prepares reports outlining the proposed systems or resolutions.
  • Collaboration with vendor(s) to integrations and intermediate trouble shooting. 
  • Ability to handle primary responsibilities in supporting a business areas (i.e. understands business functionality, business team members/contacts, ability to lead Work Intake meetings).
  • Prepares test data and executes full system testing.
  • Primarily provides routine Level 3 support. In some specific cases, Level 2 support may be required.  Investigates operational or systematic problems and provides resolution using routine analytical skills and tools as necessary.
  • Handles basic on-call responsibilities (i.e. acknowledging tickets, basic troubleshooting, escalating appropriately, etc.).
  • Follow Security and Risk Management policies/procedures/standards and guidelines including, but not limited to, timely security patching and vulnerability scanning; Assists in completing the documentation as required by Security Operations.
  • Follow Firm IT policies/procedures/standards and guidelines including, but not limited to, change controls, system impacts/outages, updating KESM CI's, RCAs, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years of experience working with HR and Payroll applications, including experience with PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 for HCM, Payroll, Time and Labor, Absence Management, or Benefits Administration in a global environment. 
  • The ideal candidate must have good judgment, problem-solving, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and build positive working relationships.
  • In addition, candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and able to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands. 
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.


  • Must have knowledge of PeopleSoft Application Designer and SQL. PeopleSoft upgrade or implementation project experience is recommended. 
  • PeopleSoft HCM v9.1 - v9.2
  • PeopleTools 8.54 to 8.58
  • Development Tools: PeopleCode, SQL, Application Packages, Application Engines, Component Interfaces, Classic and Fluid user interface design
  • Reporting Tools: BI Publisher, SQR, PS Query, SSRS
  • Data Upload Tools: Data Mover, Excel to CI
  • Other: Basic PeopleSoft Security
  • Knowledge of the following is a plus:
    • Integration Broker
    • PeopleSoft Test Framework
    • Talemetry Recruiting
    • Integration Builder
  • In addition, the candidate must have the capability to learn and support other HR systems outside of PeopleSoft.


  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
