Essential Job Functions
We are seeking a coordinator to support the communications group of the marketing and business development department. The position will report to the Public Relations Director based in New York, and must work effectively as part of a close-knit and growing Firmwide communications team.
The coordinator will contribute to a broad range of PR/Communications activities in New York and also Firmwide. Responsibilities will primarily include supporting the implementation of public relations plans, drafting and editing materials including press releases, deal announcements, media pitches and internal communications content (e.g. newsletters, pro-bono achievements), research and information gathering, media monitoring and reporting, and maintaining / developing organizational tools and databases. The candidate will also be called on to assist with awards & recognitions and supporting social/digital media campaigns.
The coordinator will bring outstanding writing, editing and grammar skills to their work. Intellectual curiosity and the ability to distill complex topics into concise, easy-to-read language will be important, as will be interest in exploring creative ways of communicating and new technologies. You will communicate and collaborate daily with over 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international business development team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness.
The ideal candidate must be a strong verbal communicator and critical thinker. You will possess excellent organizational and project management skills, outstanding editing and proofing skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment, a strong attention to detail and a professional and polished demeanor. Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information is necessary.
Prior PR agency experience is preferred. Strong skills in MS Office software is required. Familiarity with social media tools, media monitoring tools, media databases and website content management systems is a plus.
A bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience is required.
