Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking an energetic, organized specialist to support the marketing and business development efforts of the Firmwide investment funds practice in our New York office.

You will handle a variety of functions, including pitches and proposals, events, contact relationship management, branding, business/relationship intelligence, and internal communications.

Reporting to the Business Development (BD) Investment Funds Manager in New York and working closely with a local team of approximately 20 people, this role will also communicate and collaborate daily with the more than 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader BD, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international marketing team provides seamless service to our attorneys, with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness.


  • Consulting with the investment funds partnership on the development and execution of meaningful strategic business development and marketing initiatives for the region
  • Working alongside transactional Business Development colleagues to develop clear, concise and compelling marketing materials for use in pitch materials, proposals and formal RFP responses, and survey and directory submissions
  • Provide research, coordination and other logistical assistance in connection with the origination and execution of new business pitches and related client development meetings and activities.
  • Tracking and reporting analysis on the BD efforts of the practice
  • Researching, developing, and managing on-point visibility opportunities, such as industry seminars and speaking opportunities, sponsorship opportunities to increase an individual or the group’s profile
  • Updating data in the Firm’s marketing contact relationship management (CRM) database, including the review and creation of mailing lists used for direct mail campaigns
  • Reviewing and consulting with attorneys on new content, including matters and awards/rankings, and focus of their bios
  • Working alongside the NY Events group to put together client events and to assist with other event requests
  • Coordinating with the PR team to ensure coverage of successful matters, initiatives and ensure that significant matters are publicized internally and externally
  • Research SEC data, including pulling form ADVs, SEC speeches and SEC examination priorities lists
  • Work with the Business Development Branding team to bring a higher level of graphic design, creativity and visual impact to the Group’s marketing materials that incorporate visual elements that meet and promote Kirkland’s brand standards.
  • Working with all functions of the greater Business Development & Marketing team, including Operations, Development, Systems, Communications, and Business Intelligence


  • Provide administrative assistance, including budgeting and reporting, as needed to the BD Investment Funds Manager, NY Office and BD Department.

Education, Work Experience, Skills

Strong organization and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the Firm are a must. You should be able to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions. We are looking for a true achiever with a drive to succeed. The model candidate will possess outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills; the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor. The position demands meticulous attention to detail, writing and proofing skills, and you need to possess a general facility for learning new software. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Familiarity with the pitch process, a basic understanding of Kirkland’s legal disciplines and/or private equity sector experience would be helpful. Private equity, hedge fund, placement agent or investment banking experience is preferred. Law firm experience will be considered.


  • MS Office software proficiency, with expertise in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are required.
  • CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, ContentPilot, etc.) experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Chrome River, InterAction, Microsoft Sharepoint, Adobe Photoshop and other programs is a plus.
