Essential Job Functions

Under the supervision of the Electronic Resources Coordinator, the Electronic Resources Specialist will work closely with the Coordinator to support, manage and promote the Research Services department’s electronic resources and related technologies.


Implement and support access to the Firm’s electronic resources:

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new resources and content, including coordinating product trials, critically evaluating services, compiling user feedback, and recommending action.
  • Coordinate the roll out of new resources, including user access and training;
  • Help coordinate and plan vendor platform migrations, and ensure smooth transition of users to the new platform;
  • Create and maintain catalog records for electronic resources in the online catalog (EOS);
  • Respond to resource access requests and troubleshoot resource access issues.

Support and maintain the Firm’s electronic resource management system (Research Monitor and Research Hub, the mobile version):

  • Work with the vendor to incorporate new resources, resource updates and enhancements;
  • Test and support product upgrades;
  • Ensure that user credentials are captured and stored in Research Monitor;
  • Produce periodic usage reports.

Support and maintain the Library’s Intranet portal

  • Organize and maintain electronic resource descriptions and access information available through the Library portal;
  • Work with Library vendors to create customized web parts to offer targeted access to electronic resources;
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of library guides on the Library’s portal.

Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, proactive person with a MLS or equivalent degree, with at least 2 years of research or technical services experience in a law firm or corporate library preferred. Candidate should have exposure to Library resource management tools, with Research Monitor experience highly desirable. Strong analytical and trouble-shooting abilities, a customer service orientation, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are essential. Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Also desired are cataloging experience and experience working with portal technologies such as Microsoft SharePoint.
