Essential Job Functions

The General Services Clerk position requires an individual with excellent customer service and communication skills. This position requires the applicant to communicate effectively with internal and external clients on a regular basis. Duties include:  circulating interoffice mail, processing and delivering both incoming and outgoing courier and messenger packages/boxes; processing all outbound and U.S. mail and preparing and receiving interoffice pouch deliveries. Ideal candidates must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete multiple tasks under pressure. Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs.


  • Sort, distribute and meter US mail with knowledge of current postal rate
  • Accurately produce copy, print and scan projects in accordance to verbal and written instructions
  • Answering telephone inquiries, loading/unloading parcels, delivering of parcels, copying, and faxing and guest requests
  • Ensure that all mail is received and delivered according to the daily mail run schedule.
  • Ensure that outgoing mail is properly sealed, posted and transferred to the US Postal Service or other delivery service.
  • Prepare and process all courier, USPS, UPS and FedEx packages using package tracking software provided by the firm.


  • Readdress undeliverable mail bearing incomplete or incorrect address.
  • Examine outgoing mail for any irregularities and seals envelopes by hand or machine.
  • Stamp outgoing mail by hand or with postage meter.
  • Weighs mail to determine that postage is correct.
  • Keep inventory and stock copy room supplies.
  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to foster optimal relationships.
  • Should be detail oriented and efficient.
  • Be personable, articulate, knowledgeable and professional in presenting oneself in a professional setting
  • Ability to learn skills quickly
  • Flexibility in dealing with simultaneous projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong initiative required; ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Tools and Equipment

  • Q Trak or knowledge of inbound tracking systems
  • Pitney Bowes postage equipment
  • Working knowledge of PC applications such as Microsoft Office, especially MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Multi-function printing and scanning equipment

The shift for this position is Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
