Essential Job Functions

As a member of the Firmwide Legal Recruiting and Development Department (“LRD”), the Legal Recruiting Manager for the Bay Area offices will provide strategic direction and implementation for attorney recruiting at the local office level, while executing FW initiatives and strategy.

      Attorney Recruiting

  • Manage the lateral recruiting process, including meeting with partners to determine staffing needs and recruiting talent both directly through existing relationships in the market and through relationships with external legal recruiters and headhunters.

  • Supervise the Bay Area’s law student recruiting efforts, including on-campus interviews, callbacks, offer dinners, 1L hiring, 1L recruiting events and campus outreach activities.

  • Supervise on-campus and entry level recruiting, including on-campus interview registration, job fair participation, and student outreach events. Maintain a calendar of events.

  • Support and help implement the Summer Associate Program, including planning and attending summer associate events, managing work assignments and the review process.

  • Prepare offer packages and welcome notices, including firm announcements for new hires.


    Attorney Orientation

  • Assist with facilitation of the new associate orientation program.

  • Assist with facilitation of the lateral orientation program.


    Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with attorney and summer associate on-boarding, including development of local and Firmwide orientation programs.

  • Attend regular FW Legal Recruiting & Development team calls and provide necessary metrics, reports, and FW project outcomes as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and management experience in a law firm or professional service industry, preferably with strategic recruitment and professional development experience.  Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, supervisory, and communication skills, project management and change management experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  The ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and across all Kirkland departments and offices, is required.  Familiarity with survey and statistical reporting is required. 


Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of various database systems including viDesktop, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
