Essential Job Functions
The Chicago office is seeking a Professional Development Specialist, reporting to the Legal Recruiting & Development Director. As a key member of the global Legal Recruiting & Development Department, the Professional Development Specialist will support the needs, projects and objectives of the Professional Development Department.
The Professional Development Specialist will work independently to be responsive to numerous initiatives including the Women’s Leadership (WLI), Affinity Group activities, the Mentoring Program and lateral integration. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating internal and external events and trainings, tracking budgets and metrics, and coordinating with numerous internal and external organizations. This is a high visibility role which requires interfacing daily with attorneys and staff at all levels and across all departments and offices.

The Specialist will be highly organized, possess excellent proofreading, oral and written communication skills, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, have a can-do attitude, and be a team player. The ability to perform analytical work with a high level of attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and quality are required. Maintaining positive relationships, both internally and externally with attorneys and staff at all levels while maintaining a client service orientation, using sound independent judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information are also required. Advanced familiarity with standard office technology applications such as Microsoft Office Suite is required, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years of HR or related experience in a professional services environment are preferred. Availability for overtime is required.
