Essential Job Functions

The Firmwide CLE Training Compliance Manager is an integral member of our Firmwide Legal Recruiting & Development (“LRD”) Department.  Reporting to the Director of Firmwide Legal Education and Development, this manager will be a firmwide resource that oversees global processes to manage the accuracy and integrity of Attorney CLE Compliance for Kirkland & Ellis LLP.  The Firmwide CLE Training Compliance Manager will be the first point of contact for office designated LRD resources regarding centralized direction, guidance, and support as it relates to firmwide CLE accreditation and compliance.  This role will be responsible for two direct reports and provide oversight indirectly to all CLE office resources globally.

The Firmwide CLE Training Compliance Manager is a highly visible role within the firm and responsible for a broad set of activities. The specific activities this Manager is charged with includes the following:

  • A-M Illinois CLE Compliance Deadline
  • N-Z Illinois CLE Compliance Deadline
  • Illinois Annual Accreditation Report
  • Daily and weekly Illinois course submission (PCAM)
  • Audit Attendance Report and upload attendance to PCAM (monthly)
  • Add London (UK) courses and credit to CE+ and PCAM and Validate Attendees
  • Assist with Hong Kong Courses where US licensed Attorneys Attend (CLE and Validate in CE+)
  • Assist with NY, TX and VA CLE (requiring timely notification of compliance and reporting)
  • CLE Compliance check for CH New/Lateral Hires
  • CE Manager Troubleshooting
  • Audit Reporting
  • Run monthly report to check compliance deadlines for attorneys licensed in jurisdictions where we track compliance and work with Firmwide teams to ensure CLE reporting notifications are being sent
  • Assist CE Manager with training/retraining Firmwide Attorney Training team members as needed
  • Working with HRIS and CLE systems and technology to support the “evergreen” process of maintaining and promoting the integrity of Kirkland’s CLE Compliance
  • Actively drive and support actions as it relates to CLE auditing
  • Assist in new hire onboarding and support as it relates to CLE accreditation and compliance where needed
  • Participating in individual goal setting and annual review process

Activities designated to our Firmwide CLE Training Compliance Coordinator will continue to evolve and shift as needed based on the needs of LRD Strategy or in support of LRD leadership.

Additional Role Functions:

The Firmwide CLE Training Compliance Manager will also need to demonstrate skills throughout the participation of firm, team, and other intangibles to be continue to be successful.Examples below are inclusive, but not collectively exhaustive:

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience in similar setting, law firm or professional services strongly preferred.
  • Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  Skilled in getting things done and overcoming obstacles to reach the goal. The ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and across all Kirkland departments and offices, is required. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CLE Tools/Systems, and other related applications
  • Strong presence in the face of complexity and time-constrained challenges
  • Proficient at negotiating and managing conflict
  • Proven client service focus, with an ability to resolve issues quickly, and with a sense of urgency
  • Flexible in adapting to constantly changing priorities
