Essential Job Functions

The Finance intern will work on a wide range of tasks and projects to support multiple functions within the Finance organization.  The Finance Intern will gain exposure to a number of different finance activities and staff members and will apply knowledge gained in the classroom to real world situation. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review, analyze and assist in processing firm expense invoices.
  • Assist in the creation of spreadsheets for data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Maintain recurring reports and create ad-hoc reports on demand.
  • Prepare various bank and/or account reconciliations.
  • Perform expense variance analysis research and assist in the compilation of the Finance Department’s budget/forecast
  • Support Finance records inventory and retention processes, as well as data management security.
  • Help maintain internal policies and procedures for the Finance department.
  • Support tax team in the completion of a variety of tax returns as well as perform tax research.
  • Assist with filing, scanning and copying of financial data as requested. .
  • Other research and special projects on demand.

Qualifications & Requirements

This Intern position is designed to be a year round role: part-time during the school year and up to full-time during summer break. There will be flexibility of the intern’s schedule to accommodate school demands, however, the Finance intern will need to work during normal business hours to ensure they receive the appropriate mentoring and guidance from Finance staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years old to apply.
  • The Finance intern must be enrolled in a college or university local to Chicago.
  • Preferred candidate will have a declared major of Accounting, Finance or Business and carry a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 
  • Candidate should have some prior work experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.  Attention to detail and the eagerness to learn is imperative.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.

Technologies/Software

  • Intermediate level or higher Microsoft Excel skills are required
  • MS Word, PowerPoint Office proficiency
