Essential Job Functions
This opening is a professional position supporting attorneys in the Investment Funds Practice Group. The position will report directly to the Investment Funds Manager in New York and the candidate must work effectively as part of a growing Firmwide Business Development team. In this role, you will also communicate and collaborate daily with nearly 100 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness.
Provides general marketing and business development assistance to Investment Funds Group attorneys by working closely with the Investment Funds Manager. Responsibilities include:
Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with/exposure to private equity fund formation and the marketing and fundraising of private investment funds, including an understanding of active sponsors, investors, placement agents and other constituents in the private equity and/or other alternative investment funds marketplace. The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of SEC exams and enforcement actions along with a basic understanding of registered and unregistered fund products.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and creative self-starter who can support a broad range of market outreach, market intelligence, information gathering and synthesis, presentation, brand building and business development projects and initiatives, and eventually, over time, originate additional such projects and initiatives.
The model candidate will possess outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills; the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor. He/she will have solid knowledge of a number of different programs/applications to produce a high-end and professional work product, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly PowerPoint and Excel), Microsoft SharePoint, and contact relationship management (CRM) systems. Experience with Preqin, Pitchbook, Private Equity Analyst, The Deal’s Private Raise, Manzama, BoardEx and/or Relationship Science will inure to the benefit of the candidate. In addition, the candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, an outgoing and client-friendly personality and the demeanor to interact in a positive and professional manner with clients and potential clients in a variety of settings.
A four-year degree is required. Private equity, hedge fund, placement agent or investment banking experience is preferred. Law firm experience will be considered.
