Essential Job Functions

The New York office is seeking a Contract Legal Training & Development Assistant to provide general administrative support to the NY office Legal Recruiting & Development department.  This person will be responsible for support of attorney recruiting, training and development, with a focus on administrative functions.

  • Assist with coordination of major annual attorney training programs, such as KITA, Kirkland University, Deposition Training and Writing Advocacy
  • Assist with the coordination of department meetings and local training and development programs (requires lunch hour and evening overtime), ideal candidate can be flexible when working and staying off site
  • Independently liaise with outside vendors
  • Independently liaise and coordinate with firm departments with respect to assigned training and development tasks
  • In collaboration with Department Managers, assist in maintaining budget for assigned training and development programs; assist in ensuring programming remains within set budget;  and process the team’s expenses and invoices
  • Communicate and collaborate with other offices on scheduling, handouts, logistical and technical meeting support
  • Appropriately inform Department Managers of necessary information related to programming
  • Process local diversity and pro bono related sponsorships as necessary
  • Prepare statistical reports, including attendance reports for training programs
  • Enter new associate hire data into the Attorney Review Database (ADR)
  • Maintain data on ADR and assist in the preparation of various associate reports for review process; maintain data on Continuing Legal Education and track attorney registration
  • Assist with logistics during the recruiting season in preparation for the Summer Associate program; greet candidates on interview days
  • Enter and maintain summer associate candidate data
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties such as filing, creating labels, scanning and copying
  • Attend Legal Recruiting & Development Department staff meetings
  • Assist with training, development, pro bono and diversity projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

This position requires a high level of collaboration with attorneys and staff and the ability to work independently.  This position requires the exercise of independent judgment.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent proofing and communication (oral and written) skills; the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; a very strong attention to detail; and a professional demeanor.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships among lawyers and staff to achieve results. 

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Technical experience should include MS Word and Excel.
