What You’ll Do

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking an Assistant, Marketing & Business Development to support the Firm’s Texas offices and U.S. transactional practices from our Houston location. This role is ideal for an organized, intellectually curious individual who thrives in a team-first culture and is eager to contribute across a wide range of marketing and business development initiatives.

Reporting to the Business Development Manager in Houston, you will work closely with colleagues across the Texas region and national practice development teams, as well as with our broader international network. Your role will include supporting internal communications, pitches, events, client intelligence, branding efforts, and more. Success in this position will require a blend of responsiveness, initiative, discretion, and the ability to juggle shifting priorities with grace.

  • Project & Initiative Support: Assist with the implementation and tracking of development plans for the Texas and U.S. transactional practices.
  • Administrative Coordination: Provide general support to BD team members, including expense reports, purchasing, phone and file management, and promotional inventory tracking.
  • Attorney Bio & Website Updates: Coordinate biography edits, photography, and website content updates.
  • CRM & Data Management: Maintain accurate records in the contact relationship management (CRM) system, including targeted lists, meeting logs, and contact information.
  • Experience & Credential Tracking: Support updates and data entry in the Firm’s experience database.
  • Awards & Submissions: Assist in preparing survey responses, award nominations, and directory submissions.
  • Pitch & Proposal Production: Help prepare client-facing materials and responses to RFPs, including formatting, proofreading, and delivery logistics.
  • Marketing Collateral Maintenance: Update firm materials such as brochures, case summaries, PowerPoint templates, and accolades.
  • Research & Intelligence Gathering: Compile reports on clients, industries, and competitors to inform strategy and drive marketing efforts.
  • Event Planning & Execution: Support internal and external events from planning to follow-up, including seminars, receptions, and sponsorships.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Contribute to additional BD initiatives that intersect with other functional areas.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: One to two years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
  • Communication Excellence: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional presence and comfort interacting with senior stakeholders.
  • Initiative & Judgment: Proven ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and exercise sound decision-making under pressure.
  • Relationship Building: Collaborative mindset and ability to build rapport across various teams and levels.
  • Organization & Prioritization: Exceptional time management and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM/database tools (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce) preferred.
  • Bonus Skills: Working knowledge of Adobe, Chrome River, SharePoint, and research tools such as Westlaw, Capital IQ, or Pitchbook is a plus.
