Essential Job Functions

A one-year training program with opportunity to advance onto the paralegal career path. The position will support paralegals and attorneys in the Investment Funds Group. This position is an opportunity for individuals interested in a paralegal career path to gain legal experience and on the job training. After completion of the trainee program, if all metrics are achieved, successful candidates will receive an invitation to apply for a Paralegal I position.

A Paralegal Trainee, under the supervision and direction of a Paralegal, performs substantive tasks that assist our legal teams in organizing and preparing critical information for the Investment Funds group. The position offers meaningful hands-on work experiences while leveraging training, mentoring, and opportunities to develop legal expertise.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Responsibilities consist of a variety of billable and non-billable tasks, including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Attends training classes and completes requirements for skills enhancement.  Partakes in formal assessments and meets developmental milestones on particular skills and legal technology
    • Prepares and maintains various spreadsheets and reports
    • Prepares and files (or coordinates the filing of) formation, tax and securities documents
    • Reviews investor subscription materials for completeness, correctness and consistency
    • Subscription Booklet Tracking and Indexing
    • Prepares and maintains various spreadsheets and reports
    • Maintains hard and soft copies of subscription booklets and other related materials
    • Assists with pre-closing, closing and post-closing activities
    • Provide legal and administrative support to Paralegals and Attorneys in the Corporate Department
    • Proofread, duplicate and scans documents to PDF and saves to DMS
    • Commitment to work overtime as needed, which may be heavy at times, and may include weekends or holidays with potential to be for extended periods of time and on short notice
    • Coordinates with internal resources and outside vendor services on among other tasks, the preparation, production and organization of legal documents
    • Perform manual and electronic searches using external systems and internal databases, as well as manage databases in accordance with firm standards
    • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others
    • Comply with and understand firm operation, policies and procedures
    • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Fundamental proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Excellent organizational, and planning skills; strong attention to detail
    • Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively within a team
    • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
    • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills, flexible
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while working in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment

    Technologies/Software

    • Strong technical skills are required, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a form of Document Management System.

    This job operates in a professional office environment.

    The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in the Bay Area. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations.     Compensation Range:

    • Bay Area: $65,000
