Essential Job Functions

As a member of the Legal Recruiting and Development Department, the Attorney Engagement Coordinator will support the New York Attorney Engagement department with integration, retention and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts as they relate to Attorney Engagement processes. These include assisting in the logistics of the Summer Associate Program, New Associate Orientation, lateral onboarding, morale and retention initiatives, as well as efforts made on behalf of local Professional Networks.

This role will support the team with the Summer Program, Fall Orientation and onboarding process (including laterals). This entails a hands-on approach to a complex scope of scheduling assignments and needs, balancing workloads and making the most of available resources, while taking into consideration skills required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Collaborate with Lateral and Campus Recruiting teams on onboarding of new attorney hires to implement the onboarding process.
  • Develop and foster relationships with New York new hires, to assist with integration and retention efforts.
  • Coordinate Summer Program and Fall Orientation logistics, including, but not limited to, securing room reservations, managing catering and AV needs, preparing materials, securing presenters, and overseeing event management.
  • Track attorney comings and goings from the New York office. Coordinate with relevant parties to ensure proper welcome and integration to the office. Schedule exit interviews.
  • Oversee ongoing development for new hires by partnering with Workflow, Practice Group, and Professional Network teams to ensure smooth transition and integration into the Firm. Schedule Attorney Engagement Check In Meetings and facilitate follow up conversations.
  • Ensure established guidelines and best practices are followed and identifies efficiencies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with two-plus years of relevant work experience in the diversity, equity and inclusion space, event planning and management in a similar setting, law firm or professional services strongly preferred
  • Candidates must be forward-thinking and have strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management, analytical skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong data skills required, with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in getting things done and overcoming obstacles to reach the goal
  • The ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and across all LRD channels, the Travel, Meetings, Events Department, and the Firmwide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department is required
  • Documenting medium to large scale projects with minimal supervision; will be involved in developing/delivering presentations

Compensation

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in New York City. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Compensation Range:

  • New York City: $74,000 - $96,000
