Essential Job Functions

As a member of the Firmwide Legal Recruiting & Development Department (“LRD”), the Legal Recruiting Manager will provide strategic support to the 1L legal recruiting efforts.

This highly-visible position requires a high level of collaboration with attorneys and staff and the ability to work independently, as well as the exercise of independent judgment. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent proofing and communication (oral and written) skills; the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; a very strong attention to detail; and a professional demeanor.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships among lawyers and staff to achieve results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

Recruiting

  • Partner with Recruiting Leads (Recruiting Committee, Partners, Recruiting Leads) to develop, implement and manage recruiting strategies and programs for campus and recruiting with a focus on 1L candidates
  • Support and maintain Summer Associate Program (including budget) through events, reviews (end-of-summer), and as a liaison between summer associates, attorneys and staff
  • Build and execute on-campus recruiting plan while maintaining communication with law school career services departments and student outreach regarding panels, receptions, mentoring programs, etc.
  • Manage the 1L hiring process and initiatives, including annual campus outreach, campus engagement, sourcing candidates, including managing offer letter correspondence, reviewing offers for consistency and uniformity, and conducting due diligence
  • Work with local and Firm management, to inform of compensation changes and updates, utilizing market trends and conditions that may affect compensation, bonuses, raises, and benefits
  • Ensure the regular maintenance of, and contribution to, attorney applicant databases for purposes of applicant tracking, NALP reporting, and reference checking; develop, prepare and analyze relevant reports and projections regarding attorney attrition, market analysis and hours
  • Develop, prepare and analyze relevant reports, projections, and statistical data as needed – leveraging Tableau to produce and interpret data-driven visualizations used support recruitment and hiring recommendations
  • Collaborate with Attorney Engagement team and Workflow Manager
  • Train and develop direct reports, ensuring seasonal contractors recruiting team members receive and utilize relevant toolkits, how-to guides, and resources needed for role
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience, preferably in a large law firm or other professional services environment;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise regarding attorney recruitment activities;
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to problem-solve, and strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Ability to design short-term and long-term goals with clear criteria to measure success and return on investment;
  • Ability to work with and build relationships people at all levels; coupled with a strong presence that engenders confidence from Firm management and leaders;
  • A proactive and strategic approach and the ability to work "hands-on" as required;
  • Strong presentation skills combined with confidence and poise;
  • Proficiency in the use office software, including Microsoft Office. Experience with ViDesktop preferred.
