Essential Job Functions

Do you have a passion for fostering employee engagement and creating an inclusive, supportive work environment? The Bay Area office is seeking an Employee Engagement Coordinator who will focus on enhancing the employee experience and building a best-in-class workplace for the firm’s attorneys. With your 4+ years of employee engagement experience you’ll help shape and drive initiatives that strengthen attorney retention, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

As a key member of the Legal Recruiting and Development (LRD) department, you will collaborate with the Senior Manager of Attorney Engagement and local leadership to design and implement various programs related to attorney onboarding, morale, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), mentoring, and wellness. This role is vital in ensuring attorneys are fully supported throughout their career journey at the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Engagement Initiatives: Drive programs focused on attorney morale, retention, and engagement, ensuring the firm continues to be an irresistible place to work.
  • Manage New Attorney Integration: Oversee the smooth integration of new and lateral hires, guiding them through orientation, mentoring, and development plans that promote professional growth and engagement.
  • Support DEI and Affinity Group Programs: Collaborate with local Diversity Committee and DEI Professional Networks to plan and execute initiatives and events that foster an inclusive and diverse workplace.
  • Coordinate Wellness Initiatives: In partnership with the firmwide Wellbeing and Attorney Engagement teams, manage wellness check-ins with attorneys to address concerns, minimize attrition, and promote work-life balance.
  • Administer Onboarding Programs: Manage the attorney onboarding process, including 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins, to ensure new attorneys feel connected and supported.
  • Collaborate on Practice Group Events: Work with local practice groups to organize integration events that enhance team collaboration and attorney engagement.
  • Oversee Mentoring Programs: Assist in planning and executing a robust internal mentoring program to support attorney professional development and retention.
  • Track and Report Engagement Metrics: Monitor and maintain data on engagement events, initiatives, and outcomes, providing year-end reporting and insights into trends.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical support for engagement events and initiatives, ensuring smooth execution and follow-up.
  • Assist with exit interviews and data collection to inform continuous improvement in engagement strategies.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare materials, and take meeting notes as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the team.

Qualifications & Requirements

About You:

  • You have 4+ years of employee engagement work experience at a law firm and/or similar professional services setting and have a talent for building programs that inspire and connect people.
  • You understand the importance of a holistic approach to well-being and are passionate about fostering a culture of inclusivity and growth.
  • You have strong organizational and multitasking abilities and are a skilled communicator and collaborator, able to work across teams and at all levels to promote engagement and support.
  • You are familiar with, or interested in learning about, the unique dynamics of a law firm environment and how to tailor engagement strategies to meet the needs of attorneys.
  • You can work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities, including availability for overtime and weekend work when necessary.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. We also offer an exceptional range of flexible benefits, personal support and tailored learning and development opportunities all designed to help you realize your full potential both in life and at work. 

  • Bay Area - $70,000 - $102,000
