Essential Job Functions

The Knowledge Services Specialist for Data Visualization will handle a variety of functions for the U.S.-based Knowledge Management Partners, including drafting, customizing, editing and updating client and training presentations, researching and pulling internal and external data.

The Specialist will interface with U.S.-based attorneys from several different practice groups including public and private M&A, financing, antitrust and tax.  Understanding the elements of an M&A transaction is an advantage, however, more importantly the role holder will need to be able to think critically, analyze data effectively and convey complex information clearly. An ability to collaborate interdepartmentally with all levels of personnel in a professional environment and exercise good judgement is essential.

The Specialist will be an adept team player who is comfortable executing requests from concept to completion.  The Firm values innovation, responsiveness and sets a high standard for results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Collaborate with attorneys to gather relevant research to create customized and polished presentations for internal and external usage.
  • Research requiring familiarity with specialized financial databases, legal and business information sources and web-based sites.
  • Use critical thinking to comprehend each request, identify patterns and understand how any research data fits into the attorney's objectives for internal and external distribution.
  • Present research results in a clear, efficient and logical manner, including analysis of the results and conceptualizing for concise and compelling visualization.
  • Convey data in graphically appealing form, including charts, tables, graphs, infographics and dashboards.
  • Maintain specialized knowledge relating to corporate and financial transactions.
  • Oversee an online library of final files on the Firm's practice sites.
  • Arrange for the printing and distribution of materials when required.
  • Provide support and tutorials to other members of the department as necessary.
  • Have ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects, while remaining organized.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by the Knowledge Attorneys or line manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in business development or a knowledge management support role for a law firm, investment bank or professional services organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, handle multiple tasks, set priorities and be comfortable with tight deadlines.
  • Client service oriented with the ability to build relationships among lawyers and interdepartmental colleagues to achieve results.
  • A strong attention to detail to ensure work product content is accurate and up to date.

Technologies/Software

  • MS Office with expertise in PowerPoint and Excel, including charting and data management, are required.
  • Some knowledge of third party research tools such as Cap IQ, Deal Point Data, FactSet, Pitchbook, Preqin and Refinitiv would be an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe and other programs is a plus.
