Essential Job Functions

In this role, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing and updating budgets, collaborating closely with various departments within the Firm and budgeting teams to understand contracts, cost structures, and track the receipt and payment of invoices, including IT/Technology. Further, the Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing IT and other department financial reports and analyses to summarize key metrics/information from multiple sources for comparisons to budget, forecast, historical, and/or available industry data for presentation to leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Prepare/review and analyze various IT and department related financial reports including headcount metrics, budget-to-actual variance analyses, and comparisons to other benchmarking information. 
  • Provide explanations for budget-to-actual variances based on understanding of timing of invoices, projects, and contracts.
  • Track receipt and payment of invoices.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure appropriate use of Chart of Accounts as well as accurate GL coding for invoices.
  • Understand major contracts signed, invoicing/cost structure, and timing of projects/contracts.
  • Assist accounting team in related accruals and prepaids based on understanding of contracts.
  • Coordinate with departments and budget teams to compile and maintain the forecast and budget.
  • Prepare reclasses to be posted in the general ledger.
  • Work on special finance related projects from time to time.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • The Financial Analyst will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business as well as two to three years of relevant work experience. Prior tenure in public accounting or at a law firm or other professional services company is a plus, as well as, CPA certification.
  • This individual should be proactive, results oriented, and possess written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely summarize conclusions and observations. Attention to detail and the eagerness to learn and to progress within a dynamic and growing environment are imperative.
  • The individual must exhibit relevant experience with reporting and analytics including supporting visuals that cater to all levels within the organization. A successful candidate will have the ability to distill large amounts of data and information down to its most valuable insights, and then communicate and present those insights to leadership and functional area stakeholders.
  • This individual should demonstrate the ability to maintain organization in tracking and managing invoices, payments, and related documentation.
  • This individual must be proficient in reading, interpreting, and understanding contract terms, including clauses related to invoice timing, project timelines, and cost structures.
  • This individual is expected to exhibit strong customer service skills and a commitment to excellence. The individual should be an ambitious self-starter who is curious and resourceful while focusing on creating positive impact and lasting change.
  • This individual should have a solid understanding of leading practices related to finance and accounting processes.

Technologies/Software

  • MS Office with emphasis on advanced Excel skills is required
  • Experience with the following systems is helpful: Elite 3E, OneStream XF preferred; certifications/experience with EPM enabling technologies (OneStream, Anaplan, Cognos, SAP SAC, SAP BPC, SAP Group Reporting, Oracle Hyperion, Oracle EPM Cloud, Tableau, Workday, Power BI) is a plus

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
