Essential Job Functions

Kirkland and Ellis LLP is seeking a Firmwide Integration, Development & Retention Manager to join our HR Integration, Development & Retention (ID&R) center of expertise for our global firm. The Firmwide ID&R Manager will partner closely with the HR Associate Director of Integration, Development & Retention to deliver best-in-class programs that support the integration, professional development, and retention of the Firm’s business support services colleagues.

The Firmwide ID&R Manager will support the design, implementation, and management of professional development and retention programs on a global scale that will advance the current and future capabilities of Kirkland’s learners and leaders across all business support units. This leader will partner across all functions to help Human Resources, ID&R, and Learning and Development scale.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Work with the Associate Director of Integration, Development & Retention to implement a forward-thinking professional development and retention strategy that is aligned with the Firm’s strategic goals, values, and pillars.
  • Project management responsibilities include: Planning, organizing, and executing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, while effectively managing resources and stakeholders.
  • Learning & Development responsibilities include: Instructional design, development, and authoring approaches aimed at delivering engaging learning experiences including but not limited to: digital learning (web-based training, video based learning, MOOCS, learning apps, digital simulations, podcasts, etc.), virtual classroom learning, instructor led classroom learning (simulations, facilitated learning) workplace learning, coaching, and blended solution development.
  • Analyzing and evaluating existing programs for impact and alignment with firm needs, providing recommendations for learning experiences that increase reach, impact, and future capability requirements.
  • Designing of program or project materials - including decks, training materials, videos, etc.
  • Developing strategies leveraging cutting edge learning technologies, tools, sound and thoughtful learning delivery archetypes, with mindful curriculum maintenance approaches.
  • Asks for feedback from multiple sources and incorporates feedback into action plans and ways of working.
  • Strong teamwork skills are essential for this role.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, leadership and internal/external stakeholders to validate and enhance the quality of integration programs.
  • Develop and/or lead change management efforts across all phases of projects and initiatives to drive the Firm’s culture of continuous improvement.
  • Building and fostering working relationships with business partners across a global firm/organization.
  • Strong task manager, able to assess what’s needed with flexibility in order prioritize and maximize efficiency.
  • Critical thinker comfortable with data, analytics, numbers, metrics and spreadsheets.
  • Utilize assessments of learning programs to inform the design and development of new/targeted programs and initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Training & Development, Organizational Leadership or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 to 12 of progressive experience in learning & development functions including in-person training, virtual training and facilitation roles
  • Expertise across a variety of instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, adult learning theory, and blended learning strategies
  • Experience developing customized learning solutions from conception to completion
  • Excellent ability to engage with people at all levels of an organization
  • Clear communicator through a variety of both written and oral delivery methods
  • Ability to coach, mentor and manage teams (directly and indirectly)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Solid influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Strong project management skills and business acumen
  • Proven change management skills
  • Explains complex and technical concepts to audiences of varying levels of knowledge
  • Build long-term relationships through collaboration while helping to lead key initiatives
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organization with project plans, documentation, scheduling, and related communications to team members
  • Decisive with a strong aptitude for problem solving, taking ownership of progress and results
  • Fosters open communication across immediate team and stakeholders. Encourages questions, welcomes brainstorming and collaboration, and ensures all voices and ideas are heard.
  • Global learning transformation and strategy focused on operational and delivery excellence a plus.
