Essential Job Functions

As a Client Engagement and Events Assistant in our New York office, you will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for clients and friends of the Firm, including seminars and webinars, networking events, private dinners, and gifting. You should possess strong organizational and time management skills, and be able to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions. Our high-stakes, deadline-driven environment requires the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively while ensuring all activities are in line with Firm policies, procedures, and standards. We expect you to have a knowledge of local venues and an eagerness to share new ideas with the team. Superior service should be your top priority for our clients and attorneys alike. The candidate must be willing and able to work both early mornings, later nights and occasional weekends.

You will also collaborate daily with approximately 160 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. In short, we are looking for a self-starter, with good judgement, creativity and an interest in a professional services career.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary).

  • Assist with all aspects in the creation and planning of in-person and virtual client events, ensuring all events are aligned with Kirkland’s brand.
  • Provide on-site support and ensure the smooth execution of all events, supporting receptions and dinners.
  • Maintain the integrity of client data in the CRM and curate targeted client lists for various marketing campaigns and client programming.
  • Track and manage the event budgeting process and complete ROI documentation.
  • Source and manage client gifts and giveaway inventory.
  • Flexibility for overtime is a must.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • The candidate may also be called upon to assist with various other initiatives that intersect with other functional areas within the business development context.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A four-year degree is required.
  • Law firm or event experience is preferred.

Technologies/Software

  • A solid command of a number of different software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including extensive experience in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with InterAction or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role requires interaction with attorneys and administrative personnel regularly, as well as communicating to various groups within the Business Development Department. The successful candidate will possess outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
