Essential Job Functions

The Tax Analyst will support the administration and calculation of Pass-Through Entity Taxes for the Firm and its partners. This individual will work closely with the Senior Tax Analysts and will also be involved in the preparation of state partnership and business income tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provide support for inquiries from various state tax authorities. This individual will work with both internal and external parties and must be able to handle multiple projects concurrently.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Administer and calculate Pass-Through Entity taxes, including, but not inclusive to, partner allocations, setting up and tracking payments.
  • Support the preparation of state level partnership tax returns and various other business tax returns and extensions.
  • Assist in gathering information necessary to support inquiries from various state taxing authorities.
  • Assist with implementation of tax planning opportunities, process efficiencies and quality improvements.
  • Monitor current and proposed Pass-Through Entity tax law changes to assess impact to the partnership and partners.
  • Document Pass-Through Entity tax policies and procedures.
  • Other related duties and special projects as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification or MST is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a tax role in a law firm or professional services industry, showing progressive growth in responsibilities; will also consider candidates without experience that exhibit the aptitude and desire to learn and grow in the Tax function.
  • Experience with a “Big 4” or other National CPA firm is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Pass-Through Entity taxation concepts is a plus.
  • Proactive, results oriented, and have the ability to communicate with personnel at all levels.
  • The ability to collaborate and effectively facilitate information sharing within Finance and other functions within the Firm to meet sensitive tax filing deadlines through the year is required.
  • The candidate needs to be a critical thinker who possesses a high level of intellectual curiosity, while at the same time is comfortable navigating the details involved with the tax function and its responsibilities.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to complete time sensitive responsibilities.
