Essential Job Functions

The Senior Accrual Accountant is responsible for preparing accrual reconciliations, financial reports and analyses in support of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting cycles.  This individual will work with the Senior Manager of Financial Accounting, other Finance leaders, and various office and functional department leaders. The Senior Accrual Accountant will also assist on various finance related projects and initiatives from time to time.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Prepare and maintain accrual schedules for all offices; identify process improvement to enhance the process.
  • Perform routine reviews of invoice data, general ledger detail and supporting documentation to identify year-end prepayments
  • Work side-by-side with business areas across the firm to record year-end accrual entries.
  • Research and summarize accounting guidance for relevant emerging technical accounting issues and in accordance with the evolution of the Firm’s business operations.
  • Prepare adjusting manual journal entries and post approved entries as received.
  • Create, update and distribute monthly general ledger and ad hoc reports for various offices and functional groups within the Firm.
  • Assist with the Firm’s various external audit engagements.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to system and process re-engineering efforts; recognize and assess the downstream impacts of process changes.
  • Perform special projects as requested.

The individual in this role will have the capability to expand the scope of their responsibilities into the performance analytics function over time.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • The Senior Accrual Accountant will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. This individual should be a CPA or close to completion.  
  • The candidate should have 4+ years of work experience; prior experience in Public Accounting or at a law firm/other professional services company is a plus.
  • This individual should be organized, analytical, proactive, results oriented, and possess written and oral communication skills to summarize conclusions and observations clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to detail and the eagerness to learn and to progress within a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing environment are imperative.
  • The candidate must have a strong customer service orientation, good people skills, and a commitment to excellence.
  • The successful candidate will be capable of working with all levels of Firm personnel, both as a part of a team and independently.

TECHNOLOGIES/SOFTWARE

  • Strong knowledge of full MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc) with advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with large data sets
  • Experience with Elite 3E and/or OneStream is a plus
