Essential Job Functions

The Restructuring Paralegal I will assist Senior Restructuring Paralegals with managing all aspects of a Chapter 11 reorganization and out-of-court restructuring matters.  The Restructuring Paralegal teams are responsible for managing the organization and accuracy of documents and data in electronic databases ensuring all files are maintained with Firm approved case management systems. 

Essential Job Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

Manages Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters and assist in preparation and handling of bankruptcy e-filings and related documents.

  • Coordinates logistics and preparation of materials for Court filings, hearings, auctions, and client meetings
  • Manages process of drafting and revising fee applications
  • Drafts routine filings (e.g. attorney appearances, notices of filings, notices of motions, bankruptcy petitions, pleadings)
  • Assist with electronic court filing of bankruptcy related documents
  • Arrange service of filed pleadings with noticing agents
  • Monitors case dockets and circulates case filings
  • Monitors changes to federal and local rules, and requirements

  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess 2-4 years of experience preferably in a law firm handling complex Chapter 11 Bankruptcy matters for large corporate clients predominantly representing debtors.  Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.  The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.   Flexibility to accommodate for travel and overtime is required.  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required.

Technologies/Software:

  • MS Office proficiency required.
  • Electronic filing and Pacer Pro proficiency required.
  • Knowledge of Carpe Diem, Westlaw, and familiarity with DMS a plus.
