Essential Job Functions

The Transactional Business Development Specialist (Corporate Finance) will be responsible for researching, tracking, maintaining and enhancing the integrity of the Firm’s experience associated with our market-leading syndicated loans and capital markets practices. You will be charged with marshalling and normalizing the experience of one of the most active and innovative corporate finance practices in the world to support a variety of marketing initiatives including league table rankings, business pitches, client presentations and client targeting initiatives. A keen understanding of syndicated loans, capital markets and M&A, and the ability to think critically, analyze data effectively and convey complex information clearly is essential. You should also be comfortable in a proprietary database and Excel, and have an eye for organization and detail.

In addition to working closely with your Firmwide transactional business development colleagues, you will liaise regularly with the Firm’s attorneys in these key practices to drive information sharing. You will also communicate and collaborate daily with approximately 150 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international marketing team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Engage in thoughtful, comprehensive research of the Firm’s syndicated loan and capital markets transactions across a wide breadth of industries, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources
  • Work collaboratively to meet rolling league table submission deadlines and effectively implement processes to more efficiently mine data and improve data collection
  • Structure database requirements with an eye toward reporting and data extraction for use by multiple stakeholders and departments
  • Serve as the department-wide resource and authority on the Firm’s capital markets and syndicated loans experience
  • Produce bespoke pitch materials, RFPs and client presentations as they related to the corporate finance practices
  • Maintain content on practice areas, industries and attorneys
  • Contribute and assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of a Firmwide experience database

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with the Business Development Corporate Finance team on conducting research and preparing reports that identify new clients and areas of opportunities within the existing client base
  • Coordinate with relevant Business Development teams and Capital Markets partners on deadlines and deliverables for sponsorships, and support the evaluation of existing and new sponsorship opportunities
  • Provide general Business Development support

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A four-year degree is required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience and a background in capital markets, leveraged finance or M&A/private equity is preferred.
  • An understanding of complex M&A and finance transactions is a plus.
  • Law firm, corporate finance, research analyst and investment banking experience are a plus.

Technologies/Software

  • A solid command of a number of different software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including extensive experience in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Has experience with market intelligence and research platforms, including Refinitiv LPC, Bloomberg, Debtwire, Deal Point Data, LevFin Insights, CapitalStructure, Intelligize (SEC filings), Pitchbook, Leveraged Commentary & Data (LCD), Mergermarket, or Capital IQ.
  • Experience with InterAction or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus.

Work Environment

  • This role requires interaction with attorneys and administrative personnel on a regular basis, as well as communicating deal information to various groups within the Business Development Department. The successful candidate will possess outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
