Essential Job Functions

As a member of the Firmwide (FW) Legal Recruiting & Development Department (LRD), the Washington, DC Attorney Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Firm’s Diversity Equity & Inclusion initiatives in the Washington, DC office.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, event support, budget, attorney integration initiatives, attorney utilization support and general administrative duties. 

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Collaborate with the Washington, DC Attorney Engagement team as well as the Firmwide Diversity and Inclusion department to implement the Firm’s DEI initiatives on a local level, including but not limited to onboarding, mentoring, professional development plans, promotion, advancement and retention processes.
  • Develop and foster relationships with all Washington, DC based Professional Networks, including planning and executing programs, , and collaborating with the Legal Education & Development Manager on workflow allocation.
  • Support and execute diversity engagement events with the Attorney Engagement and Legal Recruiting departments for the Summer Program and New Associate Orientation, and various internal partners.
  • Support the Firm’s diversity hiring and integration efforts.
  • Ensure established guidelines and best practices are followed and identify efficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide support with lateral attorney integration, including event assistance, and coordination of integration efforts.
  • Coordinate attorney office transfers to Washington, DC including welcome announcements, office tours, and integration.
  • Assist with attorney utilization reports.
  • Track attorney mentoring program updates and assist with mentor assignment process.
  • Support all local Professional Network group events.
  • Support the Women’s Leadership Initiative.
  • Update department documents on a quarterly basis.
  • Process expenses reports and check requests.
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties such as filing, creating labels, nametags, scanning and copying.
  • Maintain attorney engagement-related initiatives on internal documents.
  • Conduct ongoing research on potential programs and policy updates as assigned.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Legal Education Manager including analysis and reporting for the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee and Subcommittees.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two-plus years of relevant work experience in similar setting, a law firm or a professional services firm is strongly preferred
  • High level of collaboration and the ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills including excellent proofing and communication (oral and written) abilities
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and offices to achieve results. 
  • Ability to work overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadline

Technologies/Software:

Technical experience should include the Microsoft Office Suite; High proficiency in Excel and Outlook required.
