Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a seasoned and organized coordinator to support the growing roster of industry conferences, sponsorships and speaking engagement opportunities in the New York office. You will report to the Business Development Associate Director in New York and communicate and collaborate daily with approximately 150 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international business development team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. We are looking for organized, proactive professional with good judgement and a background in professional services marketing and business development. 

In this role, you will support all practice areas in NY in their various sponsorships and speaking engagements across the country as well as the vetting of future opportunities. You will manage the entire lifecycle of the sponsorship and the firm’s participation, including negotiating benefits package, submitting deliverables, leading planning meetings, outlining checklists, budget tracking, expense processing, vendor management, data management and post-sponsorship analysis. The ideal candidate will be an adaptable team player and able to step-in to support other BD projects on an as-needed basis.

Essential Functions

  • Tracking, submitting and organizing of sponsorship deliverables: company descriptions, firm ads, swag items, conference tables, panel descriptions and presentation materials;
  • Creation of a tracking system to capture historical sponsorship terms and speakers as well as logging relevant information in the CRM;
  • Collaborating with all practice development leads to define objectives and thoughtfully map out participation including the identification of attorney panelists and topics;
  • Communicating conference requirements internally and setting up conference calls with organizations and the panels;
  • Negotiating and identifying favorable terms to achieve cost savings with vendors;
  • Attending key sponsorships to evaluate BD opportunities and /or manage setup;
  • Tracking budget and creating ROI documentation for budgetary review conferences;
  • Provide general support to all Business Development functional and office areas with other projects when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

Required

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and execute a diverse range of tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, clients of the Firm, conference organizers and guests.
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt to change and work independently in high-pressure, deadline-driven scenarios while exercising sound judgment and making intelligent, informed decisions.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, weigh options and find ways to move initiatives forward to meet critical deadlines and produce results.
  • Solid command of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint). Candidates must take a PowerPoint test.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred

  • Three to four years’ experience in a similar role in a law firm/professional services environment.
  • Experience with CRM/database software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, etc.).

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
  • This role offers a hybrid work arrangement.
