Essential Job Functions

We are hiring for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Engagement Coordinator to implement the Firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the New York office along with the Senior Manager of Attorney Engagement, Firmwide (FW) DEI teams and members of the Legal Recruiting & Development (LRD) department.

This role will support the team with the summer program, Fall orientation and onboarding process (including laterals), morale/retention initiatives, and the DEI Championship Circles, as these operations intersect with our diversity, equity & inclusion efforts.

This entails a hands-on and independent approach to a complex scope of scheduling assignments and needs, balancing workloads and making the most of available resources, while taking into consideration skills required.

Essential Functions 

  • Collaborate with LRD & DEI teams to implement the Firm’s DEI initiatives on a local level, including but not limited to onboarding, mentoring, professional development plans, promotion, advancement and retention processes.
  • Develop and foster relationships with all New York Professional Networks, including planning and executing programs and local events..
  • Manage the current DEI Championship Circles Pilot Program and furthermore, manage the expansion of the initiative to other Professional Networks.
  • Support the Firm’s diversity hiring and integration efforts.
  • Ensure established guidelines and best practices are followed and identifies efficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with two-plus years of relevant work experience in the diversity, equity and inclusion space, event planning and management in a similar setting, law firm or professional services strongly preferred
  • Candidates must be forward-thinking and have strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management, analytical skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in getting things done and overcoming obstacles to reach the goal
  • The ability to work effectively with all levels of management, and across all LRD channels, the Travel, Meetings, Events Department, and the Firmwide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department is required
  • Documenting medium to large scale projects with minimal supervision; will be involved in developing/delivering presentations
