Essential Job Functions

The position interacts with the entire Risk Management Department including Business Intake Conflicts, Calendar/Court Services and Information Governance personnel.  Special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be able to work well under pressure and work well with the other members of the Risk Management Compliance team.  Qualified candidates will have excellent organizational and communication skills, a customer service orientation, ability to work independently, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and the Internet.  Must also be skilled at writing and proofreading.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

This full-time position in the Risk Management Compliance Department is tasked with the following responsibilities to ensure Firm compliance with external entities:

  • Audit Letter response: prepare formal responses to audit inquiry letters from clients, including entering, tracking, and assigning letters; retrieving and maintaining all relevant historical information; survey and compile responses from attorneys; telephone conferences with auditors and/or clients; research using the Firm’s financial and conflict of interest databases; research using the Internet; and synthesize, distill and compile all these disparate bits of information and/or disclosures from attorneys and various other sources into a comprehensive final response. 
  • Attorney Bar Registration: process, monitor, verify and file all Attorney Registration forms for domestic offices within the Firm, including specialized registrations for tax and intellectual property attorneys.
  •  Reportable Transaction Compliance: process, monitor internal information about corporate matters so that relevant data is tracked and filed with the IRS.
  • Lobbying Compliance: file lobbying disclosure reports for the firm generally and specifically for any attorney who functions as a lobbyist.
  • FINRA Compliance: assist clients and the Firm with preparation of responses to formal requests for information from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

A college degree with some work experience is preferred.  Law firm experience is a plus.  Experience in the above-mentioned areas of audit letters, attorney registration, IRS compliance, lobbying compliance, and registered agent compliance is not required.  Extensive training is provided.  This position reports to the Manager, Risk Management Compliance.

Technologies/Software:

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and the Internet.

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
