Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis LLP is seeking a Document Services Operator.  The successful candidate will have an excellent work ethic and strong teamwork skills in a high volume, minimally staffed environment.  Must be flexible, organized, and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a calm, pleasant demeanor.  Must be able to work with minimal supervision, make independent, well-thought-out decisions and troubleshoot documents as well as software issues. 
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, staff and clients.  Must have a positive attitude and willingness to advance skillsets.

Essential Functions

  • Revise, format and compare documents
  • Convert documents from various formats to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and format according to the Firm’s standard Best Practice guidelines
  • Create and modify PowerPoint presentations utilizing the Firm’s templates
  • Create and modify large organizational charts
  • Generate/revise Table of Authorities; format SEC documents, including financials
  • Execute defined terms checks and automate cross-referencing in large briefs
  • Modify, compile and redact PDFs
  • Download, organize and print data sites
  • Assist with answering Help Desk calls and technical software troubleshooting
  • Assist with off-hours administrative requests, including requests handled by other departments during regular office hours (e.g., printing/binding/indexing of files and covering the main phone lines)
  • Available to work overtime, as needed

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • A college degree or business certification is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered. 
  • 3+ years of experience as a word processor in a legal or financial services organization. 
  • A minimum typing speed of 60 wpm required. 
  • Graphics experience and advanced Excel skills a plus.

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat, OmniPage, Nuance, Best Authority, DocXtools, Citrix, Zoom, Skype, Snagit, Litera, DMS and Outlook.
