Essential Job Functions

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking an assistant to support the efforts of the Contact Relationship Management (CRM) team within the Firm’s Marketing/Business Development (BD) Department.

You will be responsible for ongoing maintenance and support of the Firm's CRM system. Your top priority will be to perform database entry and maintenance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of information in the CRM. You will be responsible for researching and updating data, performing searches to reveal inconsistencies and missing information and performing external research to expand/enhance relationship content (e.g., contact, company and industry research). You will work with the CRM and IT teams to test/validate system updates.

You will report to the Business Development Associate Director (CRM) and assist the global CRM team members as well. You will also communicate and collaborate daily with approximately 140 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader business development, marketing and communications activities of the Firm. Our international BD team provides seamless service to our attorneys with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  1. Perform data entry and maintenance for the Firm’s CRM system.
  2. Process updates from BD staff, attorneys, practice assistants and other functional departments, as well as external sources.
  3. Perform searches to reveal missing information and inconsistencies in data. Take action to eliminate issues including merging duplicate records, populating missing data, and applying data entry standards and conducting research to verify the accuracy of information.
  4. Provide support for mailing list creation, maintenance and tracking. Gain familiarity with the Firm’s practice group structure and assist BD staff with targeting appropriate mailing lists.
  5. Assist BD staff, attorneys and practice assistants with their day-to-day use of the CRM.
  6. Test new features, integrations and prepare supporting documentation.
  7. Assist with other marketing and administrative projects, as needed.
  8. Collaborate with other staff departments, as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the Firm are a must.
  • Meticulous data entry, writing and proofing skills, and a general facility for learning new software.
  • Ability to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions. Kirkland demands quality work from every employee (often in high-pressure and deadline-driven scenarios), so you need to be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Collaborative approach to working within a team, including the ability to take direction and implement feedback.
  • A history of taking initiative is essential to success in this position.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, and the ideal candidate will have one to two years’ experience in a professional services environment.


  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office software with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint and Word are required. Experience with Adobe and SharePoint is a plus.
  • Database experience is a plus

Work Environment: 

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
  • Kirkland offers a hybrid workplace model
  • Overtime work may be necessary when work volume is high
