Essential Job Functions

The Sourcing Specialist will support the ongoing development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiation strategies for complex services and technology transactions, while providing seamless service to internal business partners.  This individual will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to drive efficiencies in the Firm’s sourcing and vendor contracting process.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

  • Collect and synthesize data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability in order to develop cost models for use in complex problem solving, decision making, and negotiation strategy development
  • Build relationships with internal business partners to understand their supplier and contracting needs
  • Negotiate business terms across all supplier types to minimize risk and maximize cost efficiencies
  • Use project management practices and tools to manage and report on small to multi-million-dollar projects
  • Perform market research and supplier due diligence in order to illustrate financial and capability assessments of vendors
  • Lead pricing and contract negotiations, working with primary stakeholders and legal counsel to maximize value and mitigate risk

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain or Project Management within Finance or a Business related field, is required
  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, and Vendor Management functions, showing progressive growth in responsibilities. 
  • Prior experience working in a law firm or professional services industry, along with advanced financial analysis and process management skills. 
  • Experience in sourcing indirect categories including technology (hardware, software licensing, electronic subscriptions), professional services, and facilities (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and the eagerness to learn and to progress within a dynamic and growing environment are imperative
  • Strong customer service and professional judgment in communications with attorneys, staff and suppliers of the Firm, including safeguarding the confidentiality of client and Firm information.

Technologies/Software:

  • A working knowledge of MS Office suite with advanced analytical and Excel skills are required.
  • SpendConnect analytics and contract database software.

 Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
