Essential Job Functions


We are seeking an organized assistant to join the Business Development (BD) Department in Dallas. In this role, you will handle a variety of functions, including events, pitches and proposals, attorney bio updates, contact relationship management, branding, business/relationship intelligence and internal communications.

You will report to the Texas BD Director and will work closely with the BD team members in Houston and Austin. You will also communicate and collaborate daily with approximately 140 diverse problem-solvers and advisers dedicated to the broader BD, marketing and communications efforts of the Firm. Our international marketing team provides seamless service to our attorneys, with a focus on quality, innovation and responsiveness. We are looking for a self-starter with good judgement and an interest in a professional services career.


  • Assist with event planning and execution of seminars and receptions, industry conference and charitable sponsorships, speaking engagements, client entertainment and other events related to the Texas offices.
  • Assist in the production of marketing collateral and pitch materials, responses to RFPs and client presentations, including proofreading, formatting (must have exceptional PowerPoint skills), editing, printing, binding and delivery.
  • Coordinate with attorneys on biography updates and update attorney pitch and website bios accordingly.
  • Work with external vendors on the ordering of promotional items and gifts. Submit purchasing requests through P+ software and coordinate with Purchasing team on orders.
  • Manage information in the firm’s contact relationship management (CRM) system, including the review and creation of mailing lists used for direct mail campaigns.
  • Conduct research and prepare intelligence reports on clients, potential clients, competitors and target industries.
  • Help with survey responses and award submissions as needed.


  • Provide general assistance to the BD Associate Director relating to the initiatives of the Texas offices and BD department.
  • Provide administrative support to the Texas BD team as needed, including expense reports, phone support, filing, etc.
  • Any other functions/duties as assigned by management

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-level attorneys, staff and guests of the firm.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize a diverse range of assignments and projects. 
  • Ability to work independently while making intelligent, informed decisions. Kirkland demands quality work from every employee (often in high-pressure and deadline-driven scenarios), so you need to be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong project management skills and exceptional business acumen.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, influence others and find ways to move initiatives forward to meet critical deadlines and produce results.
  • Meticulous writing and proofing skills and an aptitude for learning new software.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, and an ideal candidate will have one to two years’ experience in the law firm environment.


  • MS Office software proficiency, with expertise in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are required.
  • CRM/Database Software (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, ContentPilot, etc.) experience are preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Chrome River, Adobe Photoshop and other programs is a plus.


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Overtime work may be needed.
