Essential Job Functions

The Director of Revenue Management and Controls is responsible for leading the growth and transformation of the Revenue Function.  Created as a result of the Firm’s continued growth, this new position is important to the Firm’s continued success. This role will serve as a bridge between the Revenue team, Finance and IT leaders, and Partners to identify opportunities, propose and prioritize solutions, and manage and coordinate teams, including external consultants, to successfully drive change and ensure effectiveness.  The candidate must be passionate about controls and process as well as understand the impact of initiatives across the organization.  Ability to influence and manage Senior Leadership expectations while driving change is paramount.

Essential Functions: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

Manage initiatives focused on improving Partner experience.  Including, but not limited to:

  • Creating playbooks of best practices and and developing process/procedure to support flawless execution
  • Driving implementation of new time-entry, paperless proforma, and other systems
  • Developing and implementing tools around AR and WIP management
  • Working with leadership to develop and implement  ways to provide better support around Client and Practice Groups
  • Managing outside consultants and internal teams to achieve goals

Improve Revenue team’s efficiency and flexibility, while improving retention and promotion of our best employees through:

  • Developing a career tracking program, including succession and backfill planning
  • Driving the development of curriculums and rollout of new training programs
  • Partner with Revenue Leadership to identify rising stars and provide them with opportunity for growth
  • Developing and implementing dynamic reporting tools
  • Identifying and automating mundane and repeatable tasks
  • Continuing the development of best-in-class eBilling team
  • Creating processes to standardize and streamline work while improving controls

Monitor and make suggestions to improve performance, including:

  • Develop and report on key metrics
  • Manage the creation and publishing of our monthly reporting package, highlighting issues and opportunities
  • Monitor high-risk clients and matters and develop strategies to maximize realization

Qualifications & Requirements

  • The Director will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; 15 or more years of previous finance experience in a law firm or professional services company is required.   
  • The Director must possess outstanding interpersonal skills in order to work effectively within a team environment, as well as independently.  The ability to adapt to new assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced, highly demanding environment is required.
  • Must have managed system upgrades, migrations, or integrations, including change management and design
  • Understanding of controls prevalent in entire revenue cycle function and how to mitigate potential risks; audit experience is useful
  • Must have basic understanding of data warehouse design and reporting development
  • The Director is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients and attorneys while producing a high quality work product. The ability to multitask and prioritize is essential.
  • The candidate must be confident and self-directed as well as a strong collaborator; both capable of jumping into the detail and leading a team. 
  • Additional requirements include outstanding customer service demeanor and flexibility for overtime hours.

  • MS Office with emphasis on Excel.  SQL and DAX are a plus
  • Tableau or PowerBI (or strong desire to learn)
  • Familiarity with electronic billing systems and 3E is a plus

Work Environment: 

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
