Essential Job Functions

The Chicago office is seeking a Legal Education & Development Assistant to provide general administrative support to the Firmwide Litigation Attorney Training department. This person will be responsible for support of firmwide litigation attorney training initiatives, with a focus on administrative and CLE functions.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Firmwide Litigation Training Coordinator with event planning and logistics for attorney training programs, such as Kirkland Litigation University and new hire orientation.
  • Attendance at, and assistance with coordinating, Kirkland’s annual week-long trial advocacy programs in both our Chicago and DC offices.
  • Create and maintain events within our enterprise Learning Management System
  • Collaborate with the Firmwide CLE portfolio team to align and execute on CLE processes and related audit reporting
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for the Chicago Summer Associate Mock Trial program
  • Assist with the coordination of local litigation training programs conducted at the Chicago office
  • Track attendance for Chicago in-house programs and prepare participation reports
  • Attend Legal Recruiting & Development Department staff meetings and provide updates
  • Assist with other administrative duties (such as creating survey reports and organizing materials)

Qualifications & Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. Projects may require occasional overtime. Technical experience should include proficiency in Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate will possess strong data entry, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships among lawyers and staff to achieve results.


This position requires a high level of collaboration with team members. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated and detail oriented with excellent proofing skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and exude a professional demeanor.
